Urdu/Hindi Language is listed as # 2 language in the most spoken by native speakers category after Mandarin.

However, if it is just "understood category" it would be still # 2 after English.

This is provided by the Department of State, though the number of people speaking Urdu-Hindi language should be much higher, as should English be.

This is based on Native speakers of the language. For example, the Punjabi Pakistanis would be excluded from the list, even though that would add a significant number of people,... we can dispute all we want, but we have to go by whatever available measure there is.
